Arrr Me Hearty!

The Merrimack Valley Rotary celebrated International Talk Like A Pirate Day on September 17th. The day was founded in 1995 by a couple or people in Florida. This year the day fell on a Club meeting day, so everyone was given a pirate name and an eye patch and some gold (chocolate) doubloons. The celebration included the Talk Like A Pirate Theme Song. And, of course, we are were given handouts so that we could all talk like a pirate. Like Avast! Blimey! Aye! Grog (which we had none of) and thar.

Hot Dog Day Had A Lot Of Horsing Around!

It was beautiful weather for the latest Merrimack Valley Rotary Hot Dog Day at the local Horse Riding Pace Event on September 23 at the Carlisle Great Woods State Park. More that one hundred riders took part and many of them came over to the Rotary tent to get their dogs, chips, drinks, and or cookies. All the Rotarians there had a great time with the fellowship, meeting the riders and even sampling the food. Chef Jad Duggin was at his best. Thanks to helpers Jad, Dan, Carl, Gordon, Liz and Ken.

ANDREA BRADFORD IS SOMEONE YOU CAN BANK ON

Andrea Bradford, one of our newest members, recently gave her classification speech. Even though Andrea has a degree in Psychology, her profession is banking. She is the branch manager at the Northern Bank and Trust in Chelmsford. Her branch is located at 11 Littleton Road, in the Ginger Ale Plaza.

Andrea said that her philosophy with customers is to treat other people the way she wants to be treated. “I like people and I enjoy working with people”, she said.

Andrea has a staff of eight at this full-service bank that includes commercial products. She says that Northern Bank and Trust is a well run community bank that is working to build its reputation in the community and a sales culture among its staff.

One of the challenges that Andrea had at this organization was to make “cold calls.” She said that it was a little scary at first but with time she is starting to feel more comfortable with the process.

Asked how her psychology background relates to her job, she responded that it is particularly helpful in working with her staff. She said that as a manager she knows that it helps her in always listening to her staff’s concerns or comments.

Andrea has been married 27 years to Jim. She met Jim in college. They have two pets: Daiai, their dog and Monty, their cat.

Andrea enjoys sports and is an avid Red Sox fan and a Giants football fan. They also have season tickets to the New England Revolution.

Fred Lospennato Has Special Day!

Those who know Honorary Member Fred Lospennato's battle with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, realize how important the Northeast Rehab Hopsital was for his recovery. Recently the Hospital opened a new outdoor area to give the patients a place to get some more mobility. So who did they call to be a part of the ribbon cutting and, of course, entertainment? Our own Fred! That was quite and honor for him and special for them. Pictured here is an article and picture of Fred in the local paper.
