First Week of September...

Summer's drawing to a close, the heat and humidity are finally starting to calm down after one of the hottest Summers I can remember.  We had a small gathering of members this week as the kids head back to school.  We discussed our upcoming fundraiser on October 27th ~ The Angtiques Appraisal night.

Football season begins this weekend and our club has signed up to help a sister club in Indian Rocks, FL on their annual NFL Superbowl raffle.  We expect to have tickets in hand by Monday.  The lucky winner recieves 2 tickets to this years Superbowl, 4 nights lodging in the host city and $1000 cash.  Tickets are $5 ea or 5 for $20.  All proceeds benefit the charities of Rotary International both domestically and internationally.  Contact us and get yours today ~ you can't win if you don't play!

It's that time again...

The Antiques Appraisal night is on again, this time it's October 27th at the First Parish Church United in Westford, MA.  Tickets will be available in the next week or so but you can purchase early if you want.  We expect this show to sell out early like all the others.

The meeting was on the quiet side this morning probably due to all the rain which we so desperately need.  Carl mentioned that's he's doing a walk to support research on Progeria.  You can make pledges at this site www.firstgiving.com/carlgood.  I'm sure he appreciates any contributions large or small.

Finally, Al's prayer this morning was taken from the Webster club and we're not sure if he lost the prayer for the Wellesley club which is obviously his favorite.  Let's see what happens next week.

Antiques Roadshow Date announcement

This Fall's Antiques Roadshow fundraiser has been set for November 19th at the First Parish Church United in Westford Center. Doors will open at 6:30 and the show will begin promptly at 7 pm.

Tickets will be available in the coming weeks and available from any Merrimack Valley Club Rotarian. See you there!

Mark your calendars! Stuart Whitehurst, of Antiques Roadshow fame is coming to the Merrimack Valley area on Nov. 18, at the First Parish Church United, 48 Main St., Westford. The Merrimack Valley Rotary Club is sponsoring the show. More details will follow regarding ticket sales - both for appraisals or just coming to watch.

Welcome New President Pat

Pat got his year as president off on a good foot with his and his officers being sworn in at today's meeting. We all wish Pat success in his year as he continues on the legacy left to him by past president Ken.

Our guest speaker this morning was Sgt. Chris Borden of Chelmsford. Chris is back from his assignment in Northern Iraq. Chris explained to us all the positive developments in the region and some of the lesser seen lifestyles of the Kurds.
